Repair of two drinking water tanks

Sant Quirze del Vallès is a town in the hinterland of the Catalan metropolis of Barcelona in north-eastern Spain. There, Aigües del Ter Llobregat (ATL), a public utility company, operates two drinking water reservoirs, among other things. After years of intensive use, both were in need of comprehensive renovation. Above all, the permanent tightness of the two tanks had to be restored.

MC has been working closely with ATL since 2014. As a public water supply company, ATL supplies the entire metropolitan region of Barcelona and the surrounding regions with drinking water and maintains the necessary infrastructure. Since then, several interesting projects have already been implemented with MC products. In addition, MC-Spain has also carried out some further training for the ATL engineers in recent years in order to bring them up to date with regard to injection procedures, concrete repair and surface protection, as well as with regard to changes in the European directives for materials in contact with drinking water.

The contractor was Sorigué S.A.U., based in Lleida, a company that has grown in Spain since its foundation in 1954 into a group with more than 20 subsidiaries and more than 4,500 employees in the fields of construction, municipal services and water supply and disposal. It was joined as a processor by Imrepol SL from Granollers, which has been involved in the application of mortars, coatings and injections for structural waterproofing since 1994 and, like ATL, has already been working with MC-Spain for years in the areas of drinking water, sewage and accessible sewers.
